Project Description:
The newly opened Hampton Inn Huntsville introduces a new era of design for the Hilton brand. The hotel sits downtown at the crossroads of the city’s two main strips, adjacent to Huntsville’s multipurpose venue, the Von Braun Center. Designed by Washington, D.C.-based architecture and design firm //3877, the upscale Alabama property serves as a chic destination for locals and visitors. The boutique hotel celebrated its grand opening in March 2022 and features 150 guest rooms accompanied by over 1,800-square-feet of event and meeting space.

While the brand’s exceptional service remains the same, guests may notice the Hampton Inn Huntsville’s design approach is unique compared to other Hampton Inn locations; the design of the Huntsville location provides guests with a hyper-localized experience that pays homage to the area’s contributions to science and technology. The building’s rounded facade features southeast windows that receive an abundance of natural sunlight all day long, creating a playful, yet striking contrast against the darker interior and color palette.

The L-shaped building features two distinct entrances that facilitate the dual-sided circulation of the lobby. As visitors enter the property, they’re greeted by a custom light fixture over the reception desk with a nearby plush, dual sided sofa to set down their bags or to simply regroup prior to checking in.

For visitors who have experienced a long day of travel or locals interested in catching up with friends, guests can find immediate reprieve at the bar and buffet, which are conveniently accessible upon entry. A custom millwork screening element divides the space, maintaining the openness of the design while creating a sense of separation between the lobby, restaurant, and bar. Guest rooms are sunlit by expansive windows that illuminate the rich color palette, accentuated by tasteful pops of blue and gold. Guests can also take advantage of the hotel’s amenities including its gym and laundry facilities after attending events in the expansive meeting and convention spaces. Known widely for its U.S. space exploration and research community and nicknamed “RocketCity,” Huntsville is home to multiple NASA offices––a distinctly local element that influenced the design of the city’s new Hampton Inn. Mixed metals and exposed materials are prevalent throughout, a love letter to the approachable nature of the surrounding area and its rich history in state-of-the-art engineering technologies and cutting-edge science and research projects.

//3877 implemented a thoughtful, custom interior design that fully immerses guests in a boutique environment that enhances the established identity of the Hampton Inn brand and calls attention to the high-tech city with a historical legacy.
